Thanks for the comments Sarah Anne. Interesting point about "that knock on the head". It doesn't always happen that way. Today's article was about someone I know who just stumbled into something, speaking and presenting, and came to realise they liked it after having done it for a while. Keep fishing around I say :)

Whenever I see some unique, off the wall, but definitely in existence job like that that I could perhaps perform with a fair amount of proficiency, I guess what puzzles me most is the question "How do you get there?" How does one 'become' a spin doctor out of thin air (or even with credentials that would work out well)? So much of it seems like a game of chance or simply a circumstance of being in the right place at the right time. I think Oprah mentioned it once as 'preparation at the point of opportunity.' But what happens if the opportunity doesn't avail itself?

I love hearing of off the wall and unique career changes that people could get into in the future, but for me, the first question that comes to my mind with many of them is how? How do you get from here to there?

Thanks again for another idea. I hope one of these days I read your ideas and I get that knock on the head, that "THIS IS WHAT YOU WERE MEANT TO DO" moments. Until then, keep writing. Cheers, Sarah Anne
